SAVOY - Gaylord H. Swisher, 75, of Savoy died Friday, June 14, 2024, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.He was born Oct. 16, 1948, in Jacksonville, the son of Gaylord H. Swisher Sr. and Opaline (Bishop) Swisher. He married Merrilee Susan Cullop on Aug. 15, 1987, in Champaign, and she survives.He is also survived by two grandchildren, T.J. Lamparelli and Nicholas Lamparelli, both of New Lenox; one brother, John Swisher of Alsey; one sister, Cindi Gollier of Bella Vista, Ark.; and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Nancy Lamparelli (surviving husband Todd of New Lenox); and one brother, Gordon B. Swisher (surviving wife Kristen of Jacksonville).Gaylord was a 1966 graduate of Jacksonville High School, where he was an honor student. He later graduated from the University of Illinois, where he was also on the honors list and received a bachelor of science degree.
